Documents Required

General Requirements

• A valid passport issued within the last 10 years, with at least 2 blank pages and valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended stay.
• A UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.
• A recent passport-sized photo (not older than 6 months).
• A signed application form submitted online via UDI portal.
• Proof of accommodation in Norway.
• Travel medical insurance covering the entire Schengen area with a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000.
• Proof of admission to a recognised educational institution in Norway.

Proof of Finance

• Evidence of sufficient funds to cover living expenses during your stay:
  • Minimum NOK 15,169 per month, or NOK 166,859 per year.
  • If studying for one semester only: NOK 75,845 (autumn) or NOK 91,014 (spring).
• Funds can be shown through:
  • Personal bank statements from a Norwegian account.
  • Deposit confirmation from the educational institution.
  • Student loans or grants.
  • Confirmed income from part-time work (if applicable).
• If applicable, documentation showing tuition fee payment or sufficient funds to cover tuition.

Proof of Tuition Payment or Exemption

• Receipt showing tuition fee payment or official exemption confirmation.

Proof of Accommodation

• Rental agreement or housing confirmation from the institution.

Return Intent Documentation

• Evidence supporting intent to return home post-studies (e.g. ties to home country).

Travel Insurance (if required)

• Valid for the entire period of stay.

Additional Documents by Study Type

University / University College / Vocational School

• Proof of full-time admission to the institution.
• If tuition is required, confirmation of fee payment or sufficient funds.
• Institution must be accredited by NOKUT.

Upper Secondary School

• Admission letter from a Norwegian upper secondary school.
• Evidence of programme type (e.g. IB programme, elite sports or music academy).
• Proof of exchange partnership or programme eligibility.

Folk High School

• Confirmation of admission.
• Proof of funds to cover tuition and living expenses – minimum NOK 122,371 for the school year.
• Cannot have previously held a permit for folk high school or religious study.

Religion/Belief-Based School (Bible School)

• Confirmation of admission to an authorised institution.
• Proof of tuition payment and living funds – minimum NOK 151,690 per year.
• Cannot have previously held a similar permit.

Additional Education for Recognition Purposes

• Confirmation from a recognition authority (e.g. Directorate for Higher Education and Skills) detailing required courses or practical experience.
• Admission letter to relevant programme or language course.
• For health personnel, documentation from Norwegian Directorate of Health confirming education gaps.
• Can hold this permit for a maximum of two years.

University Summer School

• A Study Permit is not required.
• Applicants must apply for a Visitor Visa instead.

Photo Specifications

• Provide one recent colour photograph (taken within the last 6 months).
• The background must be light (white or off-white) to ensure facial features are clearly visible.
• The photo must be of high clarity, with the face fully in focus.
• The image must show a neutral expression with the full face visible.
• No smiling, no sunglasses, and no hats or caps are permitted.
• Head coverings are only allowed for religious or cultural reasons, but the face must be fully visible.
• The photo must be printed on standard photographic paper (camera print).
• Attach the photograph to the visa application form using a paper clip (do not glue or staple).

If the submitted photograph does not meet these specifications, the application will be deemed incomplete and the applicant.
